Workplace and/or Cultural Reviews
Why would I need a cultural review?
More and more often, organisations are engaging the help of workplace investigation companies to conduct reviews of their departments, teams and work sites. There are two reasons for this. The first is to determine the cause of disfunction. The second is a strategic one, where a cultural review is used as a risk management tool to maintain psychosocially safe workplaces, support improvement and aid organisational change.
Employers are often aware there are underlying issues within the workplace, which if left unaddressed can lead to adverse outcomes for an organisation including loss of talent, increased absenteeism and conflict. Identifying the cause can be a challenge, particularly if there is a low level of trust between staff and management. This is where a workplace and/or cultural review can be of significant benefit.
What's involved?
A workplace review is a an independent, evidence-based assessment of a workplace culture within an organisational team, department or work site. The objective is to provide leaders with actionable insights to manage identified risks and implement necessary improvements for positive workplace change.
At Brennan & Associates, we work with the employer to tailor a review process which will best address the specific concerns. We will engage with employees to identify issues and risks, find workable solutions and develop options / recommendations for improving and restoring a positive workplace culture.
The Process
Step 1: Initial Assessment
We will work with you to develop a plan and to establish suitable interview questions. We are often asked to explore employees’ experiences of supervision, organisational purpose, accountability, recognition, team work, trust, communication and leadership.
All information discussed during the initial assessment is kept confidential, and where necessary, special accommodations can be made to facilitate participation.
Step 2: Conduct Interviews
Once staff have been informed, we will schedule times with each participant either face-to-face or online. Interviews take approximately 1 - 2 hours to ensure sufficient time is allocated to explore all areas discussed during the initial assessment and areas of concern. No preparation is required prior to the interview.
Step 3: Review Evidence
The information obtained during step two interviews provides accurate insight into employees’ experiences at the workplace, including what is preventing them from achieving optimal efficiency and performance. This data is collated and company documentation will be reviewed (processes, policies etc.). If necessary, debrief discussions are held with key stakeholders to obtain additional information.

Step 4: Report Findings / Recommendations
A comprehensive report will be issued summarising findings, staff feedback and key themes. We will also provide actionable recommendations to address concerns and / or preventative measures to improve your workplace culture.
Final de-brief discussions can also be held with key stakeholders to discuss the findings and to clarify any additional requirements.
